Actually it happens a lot in Utah. Being absolutely passionate about art and especially local art--I like to get to know the artists I represent--it is a big part of what I do. They are always my friends and each is a unique creator in their chosen genre. It makes the gallery that much more personal.<br />At Two Sisters Fine Art Gallery I represent a sculptor named Jack Morford. I first saw Jack's work in the library at BYU. And I knew right away I had to have his work in my gallery...in my life...and someday in my home. (There is a balance between paying the bills, promoting the work, and acquiring some along the way.)<br />When I first met Jack he was the saddest man I had ever seen. He had lost his wife, Mary Jane, and just looked sad. He brought his work to the gallery and I took all I could fit and then some. It started to sell--always an affirmation to an artist. Before too long, Jack decided that his late wife must have put us together--and it turned out that she and grew up in the same place 800 miles from here and I knew her family well. What are the chances?<br />The most memorable day was when I visited Jack at the foundry and he told me "Cynthia, I'm smiling so much that the back of my neck hurts."
